Notes on what relationship research actually measured
Fieldnote Press publishes short, sourced summaries of peer-reviewed studies on communication, conflict and partnership over time — together with the methodological limits that rarely survive the trip from journal to headline.
The library
Three notes are currently published. Each runs to roughly six hundred words and carries its sources at the foot of the page.
Editorial standards
- One Sources are named. Every note identifies the researchers, the year, and the type of study. Material that cannot be traced to a published source is not published.
- Two Limits sit next to findings. Where a result is contested, thinly replicated or drawn from a narrow sample, that appears in the same section as the result rather than in a footnote at the end.
- Three Nothing is presumed about the reader. Editorial copy is written in the third person and describes research. It makes no statement, question or implication about any reader's circumstances, relationship, health or history, and it is identical for everyone who visits.
- Four Corrections are visible and dated. When a note is found to be wrong it is corrected on the page with the date of the change. Notes are not quietly withdrawn.
What Fieldnote Press is not
- Not therapy, counselling, coaching or any other professional service, and not a substitute for one.
- Not diagnosis, assessment or treatment of any condition.
- Not personalised guidance. The material is general and the same for every reader.
- Not a promise of any outcome. No result is claimed, implied or measured.
- Not a crisis or emergency service. Details are set out in the disclaimer.
- Not intended for anyone under 18.
